Frank Martell, President and Chief Executive Officer

Frank Martell serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of SmartRent, bringing over 30 years of executive leadership experience in real estate and a data-driven, digital-first mindset. A seasoned leader and operator, he has built a reputation for driving growth, profitability and shareholder value across the residential real estate and technology sectors. In addition to his role as President and CEO, he has served on SmartRent’s Board of Directors since June 2024.

Prior to joining SmartRent, Mr. Martell served as President and CEO of loanDepot, Inc. (NYSE: LDI), where he developed and led the creation of the Vision 2025 program, an enterprise-wide initiative focused on navigating challenging industry dynamics while building long-term operational resilience. Before that, he held several senior leadership positions at CoreLogic, Inc., including CFO, COO and ultimately CEO. Under his leadership, the company evolved into a global leader in residential property data, analytics and digital platforms, achieving a tenfold increase in market capitalization.

Mr. Martell is a three-time HousingWire Vanguard Award recipient for distinguished industry leadership and was named to Inman’s “Power Players” list in 2023, 2024 and 2025, recognizing the most innovative and influential executives in real estate. He also received Inman’s “Best of Finance” award in both 2023 and 2024. 

He currently serves on the board of Compass Inc. (NYSE: COMP), a leading tech-enabled real estate services company, as well as on the nonprofit boards of Operation HOPE, which focuses on financial literacy and empowerment in underserved communities, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. He previously served two two-year terms on the Board of Directors of the Mortgage Bankers Association and eight years on the Board of Directors of Bank of the West.

Mr. Martell holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Villanova School of Business.

Heather Auer, Chief Human Resources Officer

Heather Auer is Chief Human Resources Officer for SmartRent. Ms. Auer is in charge of setting the overall people strategy for SmartRent and leading employee development, organizational change, talent acquisition and total rewards.


Prior to joining SmartRent in 2019, Ms. Auer was the senior director of people operations at GoDaddy, Inc. (NYSE: GDDY). Ms. Auer served in various roles at GoDaddy, including as a strategic human resource business partner to the chief operating and chief information officers, and the corporate development and international teams. Ms. Auer led the full cycle mergers and acquisitions function for human resources as well as led the international expansion of GoDaddy into Asia, Latin America and Europe. Earlier in her career, Ms. Auer served in senior human resource roles at Apollo Education Group (formerly NYSE: APOL). 


Ms. Auer earned a Bachelor of Science in human resource management from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration, global management from University of Phoenix.

Pankaj Bansi, Chief Transformation Officer


Pankaj Bansi is the Chief Transformation Officer of SmartRent. In this role, he leads the
company’s enterprise transformation strategy, ensuring that SmartRent’s processes and
operations are strategically designed for scale and long-term success. A recognized
expert in corporate transformation, Mr. Bansi brings more than 30 years of experience
shaping corporate strategy and driving operational excellence across the real estate,
technology, and business services industries.

Mr. Bansi joined SmartRent in 2025 after eight years at Cotality (formerly CoreLogic),
where he served as Executive/Senior Vice President. At Cotality, he led large-scale
transformation initiatives that strategically consolidated business operations, optimized
performance, and built sustainable synergies across diverse business units. Cotality is a
leading provider of data, analytics, and digital platforms serving real estate
professionals and participants throughout the housing market.

His background also includes senior leadership roles at Deloitte Consulting and Everest
Group, where he advised Fortune 500 C-suite executives across corporate strategy,
organizational restructuring, M&A lifecycle management, and global sourcing, delivering
multimillion-dollar efficiencies and sustained shareholder value.

Mr. Bansi earned a Master of Business Administration in Strategy and Finance from
Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a Master of Science in
Structural Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Engineering
from V.J. Technical Institute in Mumbai, India.

Natalie Cariola, Chief Revenue Officer

Natalie Cariola is the Chief Revenue Officer of SmartRent. In her role, she oversees SmartRent’s revenue operations and business expansion initiatives. She is a proven industry leader with more than 20 years of experience driving sales and growing market share in multifamily rental housing and proptech. 

 

Ms. Cariola joined the SmartRent team in 2024 from Stake, a financial technology firm offering cashback and banking services to renters, where she served as president. Previously, as chief sales officer at Zumper, the largest privately held rental marketplace in North America, she led significant revenue growth and built the company’s sales, customer success, sales enablement and sales development functions. Prior to that, she worked with Compass and spent a decade at ForRent.com (acquired by CoStar) in various sales leadership roles. Additionally, she serves on several advisory boards for leading proptech organizations, including WithMe, Inc., Nurture Boss and Women in Proptech. 

 

She earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Maryville University.

Isaiah DeRose-Wilson, Chief Technology Officer

Isaiah DeRose-Wilson is Chief Technology Officer for SmartRent. In his role, he oversees all technology operations, including product, research and development, engineering, quality assurance and information security. He is a seasoned IT executive with more than 10 years of experience in creating, building and growing solutions for the rental housing industry. 

Prior to SmartRent, which he joined at the company’s inception in 2017, Mr. DeRose-Wilson owned and operated a technology services firm, where he managed a range of projects spanning programming languages, networking, hardware and IoT integrations, product and risk management and compliance. Earlier in his career, he played an integral role in building a software platform responsible for facilitating operational workflows and communication for Colony Starwood Homes (now part of Invitation Homes Inc. NYSE:INVH).

Brian McQuaid, General Counsel

Brian McQuaid is the General Counsel for SmartRent. He joined the Company in October 2024 and supports key legal functions including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial contracting, litigation and operational matters.

Before joining SmartRent, Mr. McQuaid served as Senior Legal Counsel at Nuvei Technologies Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of global payments company Nuvei Corporation. Earlier in his career, he was General Counsel and a member of the Board of Managers at Base Commerce, LLC, and a partner at international law firm Squire Patton Boggs, where he also practiced as an associate. He began his legal career as an assistant city attorney and prosecutor.

Mr. McQuaid earned his B.A. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine graduating with special recognition honors, and his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law where he graduated magna cum laude.

Daryl Stemm, Chief Financial Officer

Daryl Stemm is Chief Financial Officer for SmartRent. He oversees and directs all aspects of SmartRent’s financial operations, including financial planning, forecasting, tracking cash flow and more. With 40 years of experience in finance, accounting, treasury and risk management, including 20 years as a CFO, he is a seasoned finance professional leading companies in real estate, semiconductor manufacturing and clean energy advisory services.

Mr. Stemm joined SmartRent in 2020 and previously held senior finance positions with Best Western Hotels and Resorts and Invitation Homes (NYSE: INVH), and served as CFO at Home Director, Inc., and Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. In his career, he has completed four IPOs and more than 10 mergers and acquisitions. 


He holds a Bachelor of Business economics, accounting from University of California, Santa Barbara.
